Virender Sehwag has slammed PBKS stand-in skipper Sam Curran, saying he will not have him in his team. Punjab lost their sixth game of the season when Gujarat Titans thumped them by 3 wickets. Curran scored 20 off 19 balls and picked up one wicket from his two overs.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag came down hard on Curran’s performance with the bat and ball, saying that his batting and bowling are not helping the side. Viru said that Sam needs to help Punjab with either bat or ball, which he hasn’t done throughout the season.
‘He will never make it to my team as a batting all-rounder or a bowling all-rounder. He is of no use. He is doing some batting and bowling, which is not helping Punjab. Either you win a game with your batting or bowling, but he hasn’t done anything,” Virender Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
Curran has batted as an opener for PBKS in the last two games without success.
Sam scored 63 against Delhi Capitals in the season’s opening game, helping his side to register a win. Since then, he has struggled in all departments.
In 8 matches, he has made 153 runs with an average of 19. The England all-rounder had scored 276 runs last season at an average of 27.60. He has taken 11 wickets at an economy of 8.79.
Punjab Kings will next face KKR at the Eden Gardens on Friday, April 26.
