A Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporter has started a movement on social media wherein he is urging supporters attending the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 17 to wear whites as a tribute to Virat Kohli's Test career.

Kohli recently announced his retirement from the longest format of the game, and it seems as if ardent Kohli and RCB supporters want to celebrate the legacy of him through this symbolic gesture.

A viral note is doing the rounds on X, amongst other social media platforms, which pleads for fans to turn up in Test whites or even plain white T-shirts to help Kohli know how much Indian cricket fans admired him playing in what was his favourite format. This comes after Kohli's recent sudden call of hanging up his boots without playing a farewell game.

The cricket fraternity was taken aback on Monday, May 12, when Kohli uploaded a post about his Test retirement on Instagram. There was a considerable fraction of supporters and pundits who felt Kohli had much more to offer to Indian cricket and he should have ended up sticking around for longer than he did due to his unwavering passion and drive for Test cricket.

RCB will take on KKR in what will be the first game of IPL 2025 after it was temporarily postponed due to the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan following the terrible murder of tourists in Pahalgam. The two sides met in the season opener at the Eden Gardens as well. RCB claimed victory by an emphatic seven-wicket margin with 22 deliveries to spare. Kohli ended up unbeaten on 59* (36).
