The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially named Mike Hesson as the new white-ball head coach of the Pakistan men's cricket team.

The PCB announced the news on Tuesday, confirming that Hesson's tenure as Pakistan coach is set to commence from May 26.

Hesson, a seasoned coach with substantial international experience, previously helmed the New Zealand and Kenya national teams.

Confirming the appointment, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated - "I am pleased to announce the appointment of former New Zealand cricketer and renowned coach Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach of the Pakistan men's team."

"Mike brings with him a wealth of international experience and a proven track record of developing competitive sides. We look forward to his expertise and leadership in shaping the future of Pakistan's white-ball cricket," the statement added.

Hesson's inclusion marks a strategic step for Pakistan as they aim to strengthen their performance in limited-overs formats under a coach with a reputation for tactical acumen and team-building.

Mike Hesson may have a Dual Role

Hesson has coached Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL previously, and in addition to his international stints, he is currently the head coach of Islamabad United, the reigning champions of the HBL Pakistan Super League.

Hence, it is believed that the Kiwi may have a dual role as Pakistan coach in the initial days of his coaching.

What will be Mike Hesson's First Assignment?

Mike Hesson will be joining as coach on May 26, a day after the start of the Pakistan vs Bangladesh white ball series. Hence, Hesson is expected to start his duties from the 2nd T20I match. Mohammad Rizwan and team will play a 5-match T20I series.
