Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Friday, March 1 announced that his foundation has joined hands with Inga Health Foundation to help newborn babies with deformities in Jammu and Kashmir. During his recent trip to the mountains, the former India batter was spotted spending time with kids in the hospital and upon returning, Tendulkar announced the decision on his Instagram account. The 50-year-old in the post talked about smile as a gift and informed that almost 60,000 children are born with deformities every year. He mentioned that through his foundation, he is working on bringing smiles to the faces of children and explained the medical process behind it. "We don't often think about our ability to smile, as a gift. We consider it a given. There are a few, who struggle to express even this basic emotion. Nearly 60,000 babies in India are born every year with deformities that inhibit their smiles," Sachin wrote on his Instagram account. Through Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, we have been working with a wonderful set of doctors who strive to put a smile back on children's faces, through cleft lip and palate surgeries. One of the centres we have been supporting is in Srinagar. During our trip to Jammu & Kashmir, we spent time in Inga Health Foundation's hospital, interacting with doctors, children and their parents," the former cricketer said. Meanwhile, Sachin also visited a cricket bat-making factory and promoted Kashmir Willow. He also met Kashmir's Para cricket team captain Amir Hussain Lone during his trip. Currently, the Mumbai-born cricketer was spotted in Jamnagar for the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
