The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named Australia's World Cup-winning pacer Shaun Tait as their bowling coach on Monday.Tait, who played 59 internationals for Australia between 2005 and 2016, will replace New Zealand's Andre Adams, had joined Bangladesh in March 2024. Adams was part of Bangladesh's disappointing campaigns in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year."It is a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like," Tait was quoted as saying in a BCB media release."This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast bowling group, and most importantly, getting more wins for the team.

To have the opportunity to work with Phil Simmons is equally as exciting and I'm looking forward to the journey ahead," Tait added. Tait, who will start his stint with Bangladesh later this month, has signed a two-year contract, expiring in November 2027.A key member of Australia's 2007 World Cup-winning team, Tait was earlier linked with the West Indies, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. A pacer known for his tearaway pace, Tait recorded his fastest delivery at 161.1 km/h against England in 2010.In 2007, Tait famously registered a hat-trick against Ireland, dismissing Kevin O'Brien (lbw), Paul Stirling (caught behind), and Ed Joyce (caught at short cover).Tait will assist Phil Simmons, the head coach of the Bangladesh team. Mushtaq Ahmed, meanwhile, continues to be Bangladesh's spin bowling coach.
