In a significant development, Kolkata’s Eden Gardens is no longer in contention to host the IPL 2025 Finalas per the revised schedule announced by the BCCI. The venue, which was widely expected to stage the finale on May 25, has been dropped from the confirmed list of host cities.

The BCCI has finalised six coming for the remaining 17 matcheswhich will now be played from May 17 to June 3. These include Delhi, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. Notably absent from the list is Eden Gardens — one of India’s most iconic cricket grounds.

Adding to the speculation, the venues for the playoffs — Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final — have all been marked as “TBC” in the updated schedule. This has further strengthened the belief that the IPL final may be shifted away from Kolkata entirely, possibly due to logistical concerns, security arrangements, or scheduling conflicts.

Eden Gardens was initially in line to host the IPL 2025 final, and its absence has sparked disappointment among local fans and cricket enthusiasts in West Bengal.

The IPL 2025 playoffs will begin on May 29with the Final now rescheduled to June 3extending the tournament by over a week from its original plan.
