One of the prolific batters, Virat Kohli, has announced his test retirement on Monday with Immediate effect. Having made his test debut against West Indies on June 20, 2011, he has scored 9230 runs in 123 tests with an average of 46.85 with 30 centuries.
He was India’s most successful batter between 2010 and 2019 and was third third-highest test run getter in the period, scoring over 7202 runs at an average of 54.97 and 27 centuries.
Since his test retirement, reactions from the cricketing and the whole sporting fraternity have been pouring in on social media.
His beloved friend AB de Villiers has shared a social media post on Kohli’s retirement. He congratulated the batting stalwart on his legendary test career.
Virat Kohli’s retirement has suprised almost everyone as many did not expected him to retire from test cricket, especially with him calling it his favourity format. Known for his fitness, it is fair to say that he could’ve played easily for few years.
Sanjya Manjrekar also shared his emotion via social media. He mentioned Vitat Kohli as one of the biggest brand of the test format.
