Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) when the IPL 2025 resumes. If reports are to be believed, RCB and LSG will play their postponed match on May 16.However, RCB have a major issue to address before the crucial game, as their captain Rajat Patidar is currently recovering from a finger injury.

He would have been ruled out for at least two games had the IPL 2025 not been suspended for a week due to the tensions between India and Pakistan.As the tournament was halted due to security concerns, Patidar got a week's break to nurse his injury. He suffered the injury while fielding during RCB's home game against Chennai Super Kings on May 3. Patidar was asked to avoid training for at least 10 days before the injury could be assessed.RCB need to be wary of Patidar's injury management as they must ensure his availability for the IPL 2025 playoffs. The franchise also needs to keep him fit for India A's tour of England. The BCCI is expected to announce the squad for the tour in the coming days.As per a ESPN Cricinfo report, Patidar is optimistic about playing the remainder of the IPL season should it resume in the next week, following the announcement of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan on Saturday evening.With Patidar injured, Jitesh Sharma was expected to lead RCB against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday before the BCCI suspended the IPL for a week on May 8.Patidar is one of several RCB players who suffered injuries before the IPL 2025 was halted. Earlier, their opener Phil Salt fell sick and was replaced in the XI by Jacob Bethell; Devdutt Padikkal was ruled out of the season with a hamstring injury and replaced in the squad by Mayank Agarwal; and their bowling spearhead Josh Hazlewood suffered a shoulder injury.After the BCCI asked franchises to reassemble their teams, RCB are running against time, as their overseas players and coaching staff had left India. RCB are currently second on the IPL points table with 16 points.
