As the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended because of border tensions between India and Pakistan, the tournament is now set to continue on either May 15 or 16, and the venue for the final of the T20 league has the chance of being changed to some other place.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the decision to continue the IPL after an announcement was made for ceasefire between he two nations. BCCI officials and the IPL governing council members have had a discussion on Sundar (May 11th), regarding the resumption plan. Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the cricket board has also stated that the board is currently working on a new schedule.

'As of now there is no decision on IPL. BCCI officials are working out on the solutions. BCCI secretary, IPL Chairman are in talks with franchises and everyone, so very soon we will know about the decision, efforts are being made to resume the tournament early,' said Shukla.

A source from the IPL stated that the tournament is going to continue with the highly-awaited clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) - a match whish was supposed to be held on 9th May, but was postponed.

'All the teams have been asked to call back their players, the tournament will resume either on May 16 or 17 in Lucknow. The final schedule will be shared tomorrow (Monday),' a source told PTI.

'Most likely the matches will be held at four venues and Delhi and Dharamsala won't get to host more matches. All the equipment has already been removed from these venues,' added the source.

The source even stated that there will be no changes in the venues for the qualifier and the elimination matches that Hyderabad are set to host.

However, he did state that Kolkata might not host the final match of the tournament because weather forecast suggest that the city might get rain showers on that day.

'As of now there is no change in venues for the play-off stage but it seems rain can affect the final in Kolkata. In that case the final could be played in Ahmedabad,' said the source.

Speaking about the last match, the clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala was called off due to security reasons following air raid alerts in nearby areas, which forced a blackout in the hill town.

The Punjab side was 122 for 1 in 10.1 overs when the lights went out which at first was attributed to floodlight failure. However, as the news spread about the blackout, the teams and the spectators were evacuated from the stadium for their security.
