An important update has surfaced about IPL 2025. Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad have been shortlisted as potential host cities for organizing the remaining 16 matches of the tournament. According to ESPNcricinfo report, if permission from the Government of India is permission, the BCCI is considering a plan to resume IPL in these three southern cities.
On Friday, the BCCI temporarily suspended the IPL for a week in view of the increasing border tension between India and Pakistan. However, it has not been clarified by the BCCI whether a last date has been set to resume the tournament. Board officials have also admitted that it is a challenging task to resume IPL quickly in the current environment.
As soon as the IPL suspension was announced, the disintegration of the teams started and most of the foreign players began to leave India. It is expected that if the tournament resumes by the end of May, many foreign players can return, but after May 25 it will be difficult to pull it forward as many players have commitments by bilateral series and World Test Championship Finals (June 11, Lords).
In IPL 2025, 57 matches have been completed so far. The 58th match was being played on May 8 at Dharamshala between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, which was stopped after 10.1 overs and later canceled. No decision has been taken so far on re -taking this match. The tournament has 12 league matches and 4 playoff matches left. The first qualifier and eliminator was to be held in Hyderabad, while the second qualifier and the final were scheduled to be held in Kolkata.
