Delhi: The journey of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star batsman Dewald Brevis is over in 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Brevis is now returning back to South Africa after the Chennai Super Kings’ playoff race and postponing the tournament. This 21 -year -old young player was included in the team in place of Gurjapneet Singh, injured in the middle of the season. Even though his time was short, the performance won everyone’s heart.
Emotional message shared on Instagram
Brevis shared an emotional post on Instagram after playing his last match for Chennai Super Kings. Putting some of his memorable pictures in the yellow jersey, he wrote, “My heartfelt thanks to my Chennai team, coaches, support staff and our magnificent fans. The atmosphere of Chepock Stadium was wonderful. The love that got from the whole of India will always be close to my heart. The time spent with Chennai will always be in memories of my life.”
Low matches, but big impact
Brevis got a chance to play in only 4 matches this season, but he did wonders every time with the bat. He scored 126 runs at a strike rate of 163.63, including a brilliant half -century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
30 runs scored in an over
In the match played against Kolkata, Brevis hit 30 runs alone in Vaibhav Arora’s over. He completed a half -century in just 22 balls and forced the fans present in Chepock to swing happily.
A ray of hope in CSK’s bad season
This season has been very poor for Chennai. The team has won only 3 out of 12 matches so far and now only two “dead rubbers” are left. However, in this disappointing season, Brevis has given a hope to the team with his batting.
IPL 2026 can be seen again in yellow jersey
Brevis’s aggressive style, the ability to withstand pressure in big matches and attached to the audience have made him a strong contender in the next auction. Franchisee like CSK who plays loyalty to its players, may not back down from signing Brevis for IPL 2026 again.
