Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering suspending the ongoing IPL 2025 season, according to a report by the Times of India. The development comes after the May 8 match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala was abruptly called off due to security alerts, air raid sirens, and a reported blackout in the area.
Following the disruption, the IPL Governing Council convened an emergency meeting to assess the situation. While none of the other venues have been declared under direct threat so far, sources say the BCCI is weighing a temporary halt to the tournament, citing national sentiment and the safety of players and staff.
As per the report, overseas players across franchises are increasingly anxious and may seek assurances from the BCCI and Indian government before continuing. The Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals contingents are being moved out of Dharamsala via special trains, while Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians are proceeding with travel plans under updated protocols.
More clarity on the status of upcoming matches, including the Lucknow fixture between LSG and RCB, is expected in the coming days.
