The much-awaited IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)scheduled for Friday, May 9 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknowhas officially been cancelled following the suspension of the IPL 2025 season by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The league has been put on hold indefinitely due to the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan.
This decision follows an emergency review meeting held by the BCCI, where top officials weighed in on the evolving national security situation post Operation SindoorIndia’s counter-terror military strike. With increasing cross-border tensions, drone threats, and rising safety concerns, the board decided to pause all IPL activities with immediate effect.
Earlier, the LSG vs RCB clash was set to be a high-voltage encounter with both sides aiming to improve their standings in the points table. The match was scheduled for 7:30 pm iswith live telecast on Star Sports Network and digital streaming on Jiocinema. LSG, known for their dominance at home, were preparing to bounce back against a resurging RCB.
The significance of this match had further escalated after Thursday night’s fixture between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was abandoned due to a technical failure and blackoutamid rising tension and air raid alerts in the region.
The cancellation of the LSG vs RCB game reflects the BCCI’s priority to ensure player safety and national security. A special train was already arranged to evacuate teams from Dharamsala after the previous night’s disruption. With the entire IPL 2025 suspendedno matches will be played until further notice.
