The Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya and his teammates, along with impact sub Karn Sharma, have all been fined for slow-over rate during the IPL 2025 game against Gujarat Titans played on May 06 at Wankhede Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra has been penalised for “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.”
In the rain-interrupted second half of the IPL 2025 game between MI and GT, when rain took the players off and brought them back in a couple of times, and MI had to bring an additional fielder into the 30-yard circle for the final over in the 19-over game.
Gujarat Titans needed 15 runs to get off that Deepak Chahar over and got over the line off the last ball.
Hardik Pandya was fined for INR 24 lakh, since this was the second time this season. His team-mates were fined with INR 6 lakh or 25% of the match fees of the respective match fees.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra looked dramatic during the final moment of the games, when it looke like he wanted the umpires to restart the game after the rain interruption.
He was fined 25% percent of the match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching Article 2.20 of the IPL code of conduct, though the IPL didn’t state what exactly his offence was.
This is the second time a coach has been penalised with a demerit point for a breach of IPL’s code. Munaf Patel, the Delhi Capitals bowling coach, was similarly penalised after their super over win against Rajasthan Royals in Delhi on April 16.
Mumbai Indians has 7 wins out of 11 games and secured fourth position of the IPL 2025 game. Mumbai will play their next game against Punjab Kings on May 11 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.
