Gujarat Titans’ impressive bowling display dominated Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 game played on May 06 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
They went on to restrict MI to 155 runs in Tuesday’s clash. Batting first, Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma went on to open their innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack.
Siraj went on to dismiss youngster Rickelton for 2 runs while Rohit Sharma was sent out for 7 runs in the fourth over. However, Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav went on to anchor the innings, making a 71-run partnership for the third wicket.
SKY went on to score 35 runs off 24 deliveries before being dismissed by Sai Kishore. Meanwhile, Will Jacks went on to slam his fifty before being dismissed by Rashid Khan.
With Will Jacks dismissal, Mumbai lost four wickets for 103 runs in the 12th over. Sai Kishore went on to bag the wicket of Hardik Pandya for 1 runs in the 13th over completing his four over spell.
In the very next over, Gerald Coetzee bagged the wicket of Tilak Varma for 7 runs leaving Mumbai to struggle with 113/6. With Naman Dhir dismissed for 7 runs, Corbin Bosch went on to score 27 before being dismissed on run out.
Speaking at the toss, Shubman Gill said, “We will bowl first. I don’t think the wicket will change much, got to have a total on the board and then chase it.”
“It’s all about delivering our best as a team. We have one change. Arshad comes back for Sundar. Rabada is back (in the squad), but he will need a few practice sessions and a few games to get back in his groove. We are fortunate that we can use Kishore when needed. We have 6-7 bowling options,” concluded Shubman Gill.
Meanwhile, MI captain Hardik Pandya said, “We don’t mind batting. There’s a lot of breeze. Will be fine to bowl second in such conditions as well. For us it’s important to execute our plans.”
“In IPL, anyone can come in and change a game. We need to stick to our plans and be ruthless for 20 overs. We need to maintain discipline, need to be humble and focussed. We are playing with the same team,” concluded Pandya.
