Persistent rain saved Delhi Capitals from an embarrassing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2025. The host franchise was the favourite after restricting DC to 133/7 in the allotted 20 overs. The second innings didn’t start as a downpour left the water on the ground at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad could have chased down the below-par target, but rain didn’t allow that to happen. It was the second match in the 18th season to be called off. Earlier, the KKR vs PBKS contest couldn’t be completed as the rain stopped the home team from starting their chase at Eden Gardens.

Meanwhile, Pat Cummins dismantled the top order for the Capitals with three wickets from his four overs. SRH captain conceded just 19 runs and led from the front.

Karun Nair (0), Faf du Plessis (3), Abishek Porel (8), KL Rahul (10), Axar Patel (6), and Vipraj Nigam (18) failed to get going. It was down to Tristan Stubbs (41* off 36), and Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 26) gave some respectability to the total.

Delhi and Sunrisers have 13 and 7 points from 11 contests.
