Another run-fest could be on the cards when Mumbai Indians take on Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed that the match will be played on the same pitch used in the high-scoring clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru last month. On that occasion, both teams crossed 200, with RCB emerging victorious.

Mumbai comes into this game with six consecutive wins and a surge in momentum. With the best Net Run Rate in the league, MI needs just two wins from its remaining three matches to seal a playoff spot. Playing two of those games at home adds to its advantage.

The batting line-up is firing on all cylinders. Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma are among the runs, and the unit looks settled. On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the charge, supported ably by Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and skipper Hardik Pandya. This attack has consistently delivered, and poses a serious threat to any opposition.

Gujarat’s top order — Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler, and captain Shubman Gill — has held firm so far. But facing Mumbai’s bowlers at Wankhede will be a different challenge. GT’s bowling, meanwhile, has looked unconvincing. Rashid Khan’s dip in form remains a concern. However, the return of Kagiso Rabada from suspension gives the unit a timely boost.
