Lucknow: An exciting match was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens on Sunday. In this match, KKR won by 1 run, while on the other hand, with this defeat, RCB's dream of reaching the playoffs has almost remained unfulfilled this time too. In the match, veteran batsman Virat Kohli was given out on a high full toss ball, which remains a matter of controversy. Many people are citing this wicket as the reason for Bengaluru's defeat.

Due to Virat's wicket, the match tilted towards Kolkata but former Indian player Harbhajan Singh believes in something else. According to him, if the team captained by Faf du Plessis has to face defeat in this match, then experienced wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik is responsible for it. During the discussion on Star Sports, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan also justified this statement of Harbhajan.

Former veteran off-spinner said, “Everyone is talking about Virat Kohli's wicket but Dinesh Karthik had refused to take runs twice in the 19th over and no one is talking about it. If he had taken this run, RCB would have won this match. On the other hand, Karan Sharma was batting and he had such ability that he could take one run and rotate the strike. Even though Karthik is in good form, he still needed to show confidence in his partner.”

Supporting Harbhajan's statement, Pathan said, “I also feel that if Dinesh Karthik had not given up those two runs, RCB would have won the match today. Due to his not scoring runs, Bengaluru is out of the playoffs today.”

Kolkata defeated Bengaluru in a thrilling match

If we talk about the match, in this match Du Plessis had won the toss and decided to bowl first. After this, on the basis of captain Shreyas Iyer's brilliant half-century innings, Kolkata had scored 222 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing this target, RCB almost won the match but in the end they lost the match by 1 run. With this, they have now lost 7 out of 8 matches and are almost out of the race for the playoffs.
