IPL 2025: 'Still alive is alive playoff expectation', Rishabh Pant expressed confidence in the team even after defeat

Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 faced Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 4 May against 37 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKs) at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala.

Punjab's bang batting

Batting first after winning the toss, Punjab Kings lost 5 wickets and scored a big score of 236 runs. LSG's struggle batting

Chasing the target, Lucknow's team could score only 199 runs for 7 wickets. In Punjab's bowling, Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets while performing the best. At the same time, Afghan bowler Ajmatullah Umarzai broke the back of Lucknow with 2 important wickets.

Points table status

After this victory, Punjab Kings have reached second place in the points table with 15 points in 11 matches. At the same time, Lucknow Super Giants have 10 points in 11 matches and they remain at the seventh position.

Rishabh Pant's statement

Although this is the sixth defeat of LSG, still captain Rishabh Pant has not given up the hopes of the playoffs. He said after the match, “We had to chase a lot and when you leave the catch on important occasions, it has to bear the brunt of it. Initially we could not read the length properly. But all this goes on in the game.”

Pant further said, “We still have a chance. If we win the next three matches (against RCB, GT and SRH), we can get 16 points and we can stay in the playoff race. Yes, a lot will depend on the performance of the rest of the teams and the net run rate.”

He also added, “Every time we cannot expect from the top order that they will win the same match. The rest of the batsmen will also have to take responsibility and take the match to the end.”
