Lucknow: The Indian cricket team is currently being captained by star batsman Rohit Sharma. However, this question often arises that who will lead the team after Rohit. At the forefront of this race is veteran all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who commanded Team India in T-20 cricket for almost a year. So it is also believed that wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah can also play this role.
India's captaincy is going to be very interesting in the times to come because Rohit is at the last stage of his career and it remains to be seen who the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appoints as the captain. However, during a conversation on Star Sports on this matter, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has suggested a different name. He believes that not Pant or Hardik but Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill can lead Team India.

He said, “Shubman Gill is such a player who can captain India in the future. He has such talent that he can lead the team. Gill has done a good job for Gujarat this season and I think he can do a great job for India too.”
Let us tell you that this season Gill has been seen struggling with the bat compared to the last season. He had scored more than 800 runs during the last edition, whereas this season the player has played 8 matches and has been able to score only two half-centuries so far. On the other hand, after performing well in the first two seasons, their team also seems to be struggling in IPL 2024. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how he takes his team forward.
Another big challenge is facing the 24-year-old because the T20 World Cup is to be played in June this year, for which Team India is to be announced by May 1. It is not going to be easy for the right-handed batsman to make a place in this team because there is a tough competition between him and Yashasvi Jaiswal. In such a situation, Gill will have to show his best performance with his bat.
