The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be hosted in Englandwith the final match scheduled at the legendary Lords Stadium in London. This marks the third consecutive ICC tournament final to be played at Lords, following the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup and the 2019 Men’s ODI World Cupboth of which were won by England.
The upcoming edition is set to be a historic moment in women’s cricket, with Lords once again becoming the center stage for a world champion to be crowned.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will take place from 12 June to 5 July 2026and will feature 12 teamssplit into two groups of six. A total of 20 league matches will be played, followed by two semi-finals and the grand final at Lords.
The six confirmed venues for the tournament are:
Lords, London
Old Trafford, Manchester
Headingley, Leeds
Edgbaston, Birmingham
Hampshire Bowl, Southampton
The Oval, London
Bristol County Ground, Bristol
ICC President Jay Shah remarked that choosing Lords for the final was an “ideal decision” given its historic significance and legacy in hosting major finals.
Out of the 12 teams, eight have already qualified for the tournament:
India
Australia
England
New Zealand
South Africa
West Indies
Pakistan (via ICC T20 rankings)
Sri Lanka (via ICC T20 rankings)
The remaining four teams will be determined through global qualifierswith a cut-off date for rankings set as October 21, 2024.
History shows that England has never lost an ICC tournament final at Lords:
In 2017England won the Women’s ODI World Cup at the venue.
In 2019the Men’s ODI World Cup final was famously clinched by England in a dramatic finish.
With the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup final returning to Lordsthe stage is set for a potential third ICC title on home turf for England’s women’s team.
