The Impressive batting display from Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill has helped the side to post 224 runs in the IPL 2025 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 02 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Despite a chaotic final over, Gujarat were able to set a mammoth target for SRH in Friday’s clash.
Batting first, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Mohammed Shami opened the bowling attack. The duo went on to score 82 runs in the powerplay and continued their onslaught against Hyderabad.
However, Zeeshan Ansari got the necessary breakthrough picking the wicket of Sudharsan for 48 runs, which included 9 fours. But SRH’s efforts went in vain as Gill, along with Buttler went on for aggressive boundaries at Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, Gill went on to score fifty on 25 deliveries which included five fours and 1 sixes. He went on to assault Hyderabad bowling with boundaries before being dismissed on a run out for 76 runs.
Jos Buttler also went on to smash his fifty and scored 64 runs before being dismissed by Pat Cummins. His partnership with Washington Sundar saw 200-run mark.
Jaydev Unadkat went on to pick three wickets in the final over of the innings where Gujarat Titans scored 224 runs.
Speaking at the toss, SRH captain Pat Cummins said, “We will have a bowl. You never really what you will get. Sometimes it is better to bat at night.”
“We won our first game at CSK’s venue. Hopefully the trend continues here as well. If we win all our games, we still have a chance. We haven’t quite clicked as a team. Last couple of games, we have done better. Same team,” said Cummins.
Meanwhile, GT captain Shubman Gill said, “We would have bowled first as well. Looks like a good wicket. Last game here we played against Mumbai, we batted first as well. The season has been pretty good for us. Nothing changes us for us.”
“This is the time when good team peaks. We are not really looking at the NRR. We are looking to see each game as it is. We have one change. Gerald Coetzee comes in for Karim Janat,” concluded Gill.
