Rohit Sharma is currently leading India across formats in international cricket. However, he is at the fag end of his career and there are several contenders, who can replace the legendary cricketer. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have led India in the past and they are front-runners. However, former India player Harbhajan Singh is backing Shubman Gill.
Gill is currently leading Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2924. He was given the responsibility after Hardik Pandya rejoined Mumbai Indians ahead of the 17th season.
“Shubman Gill is the future Indian captain. He is a class act and can lead the national team to success. Gill has done well as GT captain in this season of the tournament,” Harbhajan Singh said.
Gujarat haven’t enjoyed remarkable success in his first season. The Titans have lost a few close games and their batting has surrendered meekly. He will judged after the conclusion of the ongoing season.
Meanwhile, Gill will have to come up with big scores if we he wants to play for the Men in Blue in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He is competing with Yashasvi Jaiswal for the opening slot.
