New Delhi, May 2 Rajasthan Royals have suffered a major blow in the ongoing IPL 2025 season as veteran pacer Sandeep Sharma has been ruled out of the tournament due to a fractured finger. The franchise confirmed the development on Thursday, stating that the injury has ended Sharma’s participation for the remainder of the season.
The 31-year-old right-arm pacer sustained the injury during a match against Gujarat Titans in Jaipurwhen he attempted to stop a powerful shot from Shubman Gill off his own bowling. Despite the injury, Sharma bravely completed his spell, bowling the final 8 balls in visible discomfort.
In a statement, Rajasthan Royals praised Sharma’s resilience, saying:
Sandeep Sharma played 10 matches in IPL 2025, taking 9 wickets at an economy rate of 9.89. In their previous game against Mumbai Indians, Akash Madhwal was drafted in as his replacement in the playing XI.
