Virat Kohli Controversy

Kolkata: Virat Kohli was key to the chase of 223 against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday at the Eden Gardens, but he was dismissed bizarrely just when he looked all set to go big. He was dismissed to a full-toss from Harshit Rana, that took him by surprise. Kohli hit it straight back to the bowler and was caught. He straightaway took the DRS, which showed that the ball would have dipped below his hip if he was standing at the wicket. After he was given out, Kohli got into an heated argument with the umpires as he felt it was above his hips and should have been called a no-ball. Fans too believe it was a no-ball and hence are now bashing DRS and the umpires.

Earlier, captain Shreyas Iyer struck a 36-ball fifty, also his first half-century in IPL since May 2022, while Phil Salt and Ramandeep Singh smashed quick cameos in propelling KKR to a massive 222/6 in 20 overs.

Iyer smashed seven fours and a six to be the top run-scorer for KKR, while Salt sizzled with a 14-ball 48 and Ramandeep produced fireworks in the end with an unbeaten 24 off just nine balls to get the 16th 200+ total of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

For RCB, Cameron Green and Yash Dayal took two wickets each, while Lockie Ferguson and Mohammed Siraj had a scalp apiece, though they were expensive in conceding 73 runs off the last five overs.
