CSK vs PBKS Playing 11: MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will square off against Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings in the 49th match of the IPL 2025 season on April 29 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

Chennai has only two wins out of nine games, with their victories coming in the games against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.

Their defeats came in games against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings secured five wins out of nine matches where their wins comes in the games against Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers.

Meanwhile, their defeats comes in the games against Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers and one game ended with no result.

Chennai are in the bottom position while Punjab Kings secured fifth position of the IPL 2025 points table.

Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. Speaking at the toss, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer said, “We’re going to bowl first. We’ll focus on our process. Our preparations have been intact. Boys are in high spirits and looking forward for a great game. Unfortunate that he’s got a fractured finger (Maxwell). Haven’t decided on a replacement so far.”

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni said, “I don’t know I’m coming for the next game (laughs). One of the things is the pride factor. Majority of the games you play at home. Home advantage is very important which we haven’t been able to capitalise on.”

“Same team. We’ve been a side where we don’t make a lot of changes. But this season we’ve made a lot of changes. Reason is simple. If most of your players are doing well, then you chop and change 1-2 players.”

“But this season it hasn’t worked for us. It’s also the first season after a fresh auction. So you have something in mind but you have to see where a batter is suited better.”
