It is very rare to see a franchise persisting with all the Indian bowlers attacking in the bowling unit. Delhi Capitals have done it in IPL 2024. With Anrich Nortje leaking runs at an alarming rate, the management has dropped him from a few games. Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel have been their wicket-taking options.
However, the two seamers had a bad day at the office when Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Abdul Samad went after them in the DC vs SRH game in IPL 2024. Mukesh and Khaleel were expensive, with Sunrisers posting 266/7 in 20 overs.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets, while Axar conceded 29 runs at an economy of 7.25 on a day when bowlers were hammered.
Ishant Sharma was ruled out of the game just five minutes before the toss due to back spasms. Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu hailed Delhi’s bowling attack.
“I want the Indian bowling attack to be like Delhi. The Capitals have two quality right-arm fast bowlers. Khaleel makes the bowling unit more lethal with his left-arm bowling. DC have to quality spinners in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, who can take wickets in any game,” he said.
However, despite all the praise from the legendary batter, Delhi lost the game by 67 runs, their fifth defeat in the 17th season. Khaleel has been the most improved bowler this season.
