Punjab Kings' (PBKS) spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi has revealed the secret behind Prabhsimran Singh's consistency in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).
Prabhsimran continued his rich form against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday, April 26 with his breathtaking innings of 83 (49). The 24-year-old hit six fours and as many sixes during his innings, helping Punjab reach a good score of 201/4 after they opted to bat first.
However, his innings couldn't take Punjab to victory as incessant rain at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata After the game, Sunil Joshi spoke at length about Prabhsimran's consistency, mentioning how his pre-season form and a positive environment in the dressing room has helped him to have a prolific season with the bat.
"I think it's about the confidence level - how much volume you add to your batting during pre-season matters a lot. And of course, a positive environment with Ricky (Ponting) and the batting coaching staff has really helped. He (Prabhsimran) has been consistent in the white-ball format, across tournaments, even in the Ranji Trophy where he scored a lot of runs," said Joshi in the post-match press conference.
Furthermore, the PBKS spin bowling coach stated Prabhsimran has grown mature and is a lot more confident than before.
"And runs on your back and consistency is always a positive way to get into the tournament. As far as consistency is concerned, Prabhsimran has shown consistency and numbers since last year. However, this year he's been more mature. After one year, you naturally gain a lot of maturity. Obviously, he was part of the Emerging Team as well, so that confidence also helped him," he added.
Prabhsimran is the second-highest run scorer for Punjab this season and has formed a .
The opening batter has scored 292 runs from nine innings at an average of 32.44 and a strike rate of 168.78 with two fifties to his name. He will be eager to continue his form against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the next fixture on April 30 and help his team climb further up on the points table. Punjab currently occupy the fourth spot with 11 points from nine matches.
