Lucknow: Nothing has been good for Delhi Capitals so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Captain Rishabh Pant's comeback has been fantastic but his team is not able to work as a group. This is the reason why Delhi has lost 5 out of 8 matches in this tournament so far. Seeing such performance of the team, former Indian veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has given an important advice to the team management and he has selected two players as a new opening batsman for DC.
Let us tell you that the opening pair has been a matter of concern for Delhi this year. Especially due to the poor play of experienced batsman David Warner, he has got bad starts in almost all the matches. In such a situation, when Delhi had to face defeat by 67 runs in the match played against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday, Harbhajan gave a big suggestion. During a Star Sports conversation, the former Indian cricketer advised Delhi to change its opening combination.

He said, “If Delhi has to perform well in this tournament, they will have to make changes in their opening pair. They need new openers and till now David Warner and Prithvi Shaw have not been able to do anything special. DC should field two openers in Rishabh Pant and Jake Fraser McGurk if they do not want to play Shaw. They will have to make such players a part of their team, who can prove to be match winners.”
If we talk about Warner, while chasing 267 runs against Hyderabad, he could score only one run in 3 balls and was out. On the other hand, Prithvi scored 16 runs in 5 balls with the help of 4 fours. In this big run chase, both the batsmen proved to be flops and due to this, Bhajji also seemed angry with them. This season, Shaw has scored 174 runs in 6 matches with a strike rate of more than 162. His partner Warner has also scored 167 runs in 7 matches. In such a situation, former Indian players have raised questions on both.
Jake-Fraser McGurk played an excellent innings against Hyderabad
Batting first in this match, Hyderabad scored 266 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. In reply, young batsman McGurk played an excellent innings for Delhi and scored his half-century in just 15 balls. In this match, the right-handed batsman played an innings of 65 runs in 18 balls with the help of 5 fours and 7 sixes. In such a situation, considering his performance, Bhajji has asked to open with him.
