The IPL 2025 schedule is set to witness an unusual yet neo-normal occurrence on Saturday, April 26.
On Saturday, only a single match will be played, featuring Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
While weekends in the IPL typically showcase double-headers, this deviation is the result of an adaptation of IPL scheduling in 2025.
Why is there just One Match Today in IPL 2025?
The sole reason for a solitary match in the IPL 2025 on Saturday is the scheduling. Generally, the IPL schedule includes double headers on Saturday and this year, we saw the past three weekends being double-headers on both days.
But this weekend, there will be just KKR vs PBKS in Kolkata, and from now on, the IPL schedule will adapt a new routine.Have there been any reshuffle in IPL 2025 Schedule?
Earlier in the season, The Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match, which was originally slated for Sunday, April 6, had to be rescheduled due to security concerns associated with Ram Navami celebrations in Kolkata. Local authorities, prioritizing public safety and resource management, requested the change, which the IPL Governing Council accepted.
To maintain the fairness of rest periods for teams and ensure logistical efficiency, the IPL organisers have arranged the schedule in accordance. Consequently, Saturday, April 26, features only a single match to maintain competitive balance and avoid unnecessary player fatigue later in the tournament.
IPL 2025: How many Matches will be held in Saturdays?
And when it comes to Saturday matches, the adaptation of a single match will be the new normal in the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Although the last three Saturdays saw double headers, there won't be two matches on Saturdays anymore.
Here are all the matches on Saturdays in IPL 2025 from this weekend-The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will be involved in three of the final four Saturday matches, while RCB will be involved in a couple as well.
