LSG vs DC IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals' star wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul proved his worth by performing brilliantly with the bat as he led the visitors to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory against his former team LSG during their IPL match on Tuesday.

Coming back to his former home ground for the first time after being let go by the Lucknow-based franchise during the mega auction last year, Rahul scored a match-winning fifty, in which he had smashed three fours and as many sixes, with Sanjiv Goenka watching the match.

KL Rahul did have a fallout with Goenka during IPL 2024 as they were having a hard time and they lay at the seventh position in the points table and couldn't reach the playoffs.

He led the team from the front for three years and then qualified for the playoffs twice despite that Rahul was let go before the mega auction last year.

Rahul helped Delhi Capitals win the match by smashing a six towards the mid-wicket region and scored an unbeaten knock of 57 runs off 42 balls.

Post the match, Rahul was seen in a hurry in the post-match handshakes when he bumped into Goenka.

"Always good to be back in Lucknow," he had written as the caption to his new post on his official Instagram account.

One of the images also had him celebrating by pointing his name towards the back with the bat on the back of his jersey.

After getting released by LSG, Rahul had reckoned that everything was not well inside their dressing room.

"I wanted to start fresh, I wanted to explore my options and I wanted to go and play where I could find some freedom, where the team atmosphere could be something lighter. Sometimes you need to move away and find something good for yourself," he was quoted as saying to Star Sports.

Goenka had revealed the reason as to why they retained the players that they did and why they let go of someone like KL Rahul.

"It was a simple mindset to go in with players who have a mindset to win, who put the team before their personal goals and personal aspirations and we wanted to retain as much as of the core we could," Goenka added."It was a simple mindset to go in with players who have a mindset to win, who put the team before their personal goals and personal aspirations and we wanted to retain as much as of the core we could," Goenka added.
