Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel slammed fifties in the 159-run chase during the IPL 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants to secure an 8-wicket victory at Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Delhi put up an all-around show in Tuesday’s clash to clinch another victory against Lucknow. With this victory, DC retained their second position in the IPL 2025 points table while LSG is in the fifth position.
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants openers Mitch Marsh and Aiden Markram have provided an impressive start, scoring 51 runs in the power play.
Markram went on to smash his fourth fifty of the ongoing season, displaying his top hot form. Alongside, Marsh contributed some boundaries as the side scored 51 in the power play.
The first wicket partnership lasted for 87 runs as Chameera dismissed the South African all-rounder for 52 runs. His knock included 2 fours and three sixes.
Pooran came into bat and scored only 9 runs before Starc powered his dismissal. With his dismissal, Lucknow lost two wickets before crossing 100-run mark.
With Abdul Samad’s dismissal for 2 runs by Mukesh Kumar, LSG was tattering with three dismissals for 117 runs.
Meanwhile, the powerhitting Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for 45 runs by Mukesh Kumar. With David Miller struggling to score runs, Ayush Badoni went on to score 36 runs off 21 deliveries.
In the final over, Badoni went on to hit hattrick fours in the first three balls before being dismissed by Mukesh Kumar on the fourth ball. Rishabh Pant walked out to face two ball and lost his wicket to Mukesh in the final ball of the innings.
Mukesh Kumar went on to pick four wickets in his four over quota. Finally Lucknow Super Giants went on to score only 159 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 over innings.
With the target of 160, Abhishek Porel and Karun Nair opened the innings where the latter dismissed by Aiden Markram for 15 runs.
With KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel at crease, Delhi scored 54 runs in powerplay. The calm and steady knock from the duo has helped the side to cross 100-run mark.
Despite hitting fifty, Porel lost his wicket to Markram in the 12th over. Axar Patel came in and joined KL Rahul to power up the run chase.
Meanwhile Rahul hit fifty and went on to remain unbeaten with 57 runs which included 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Axar Patel went on to smash 34 runs off 20 deliveries and helped the side to complete the innings with 13 balls to spare.
