Royal Challengers Bengaluru found a spark in Josh Hazlewood’s fiery spell as Punjab Kings’ top order collapsed dramatically in Match 34 of IPL 2025. Chasing a revised target of 96 in 14 overs due to rain, PBKS were cruising at 52/2 before Hazlewood turned the tide with two crucial wickets in the 8th over.
First to fall was Shreyas Iyer, who once again struggled against Hazlewood in T20s. Iyer edged a rising delivery outside off, which was brilliantly caught by keeper Jitesh Sharma. This continued Iyer’s dismal record against the Aussie pacer in the format—across 4 innings, he has scored just 5 runs off 16 balls with 3 dismissals, averaging 1.66 with a strike rate of 31.25.
Just two balls later, Hazlewood struck again, this time removing Josh Inglis. The right-hander tried to slash a short delivery but only managed to find Suyash Sharma at deep third man. Inglis departed for 14 off 17, and PBKS were left reeling at 53/4 in 7.6 overs.
Hazlewood’s figures stood at 2 overs, 13 runs, and 3 wickets, bringing RCB back into the contest. With 43 needed off 36 balls and four wickets down, the game has suddenly come alive.
