Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lost five consecutive matches for the first time in the history of the IPL. However, batting coach Michael Hussey is still confident about CSK's comeback and playoffs qualification in the tournament.

Hussey acknowledged the batting failure and spoke about the need to make amends. The Chennai-based franchise lost their fifth game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets at their home ground on April 11.

Once known as the most dominant team in the tournament, the Super Kings have lost their spark and intent this season, having lost thrice at their home as well.

The main issue lies with the batters this time. They have collectively failed to score runs or chase runs in the second innings.

"Now, certainly the momentum is not with us at the moment whatsoever. We haven't been playing good cricket consistently. We definitely acknowledge that, put our hands up and say that that is fact at the moment. But that's not to say things can't turn around and can't turn around quickly. So, that's what we're still hanging on to, and that's what we're working hard towards," Hussey told reporters after CSK's defeat to KKR.

"And if we can change that momentum and get some confidence going and get a few wins on the board, the confidence will grow and you never know.

We might be able to scrape into one of those last positions in the table come playoffs time. And it's a long way ahead, and we certainly need to change things around. But we still believe that we can do that," added Hussey.

CSK still have eight games, five of which are away games. They will have to win at least seven matches to secure a place in the playoffs.
