Rishabh Pant is under pressure after a poor start to IPL 2025, and the fans are questioning his INR 27 crore price tag. He has managed only 19 runs in four innings, and the top order has done the bulk of the scoring. However, the pressure is increasing on the highest-priced player in IPL history. His strike rate of 59.38 shows his struggles.
Aakash Chopra, the former India opener, shared his thoughts on Rishabh Pant. Instead, Abdul Samad and David Miller were promoted ahead of Pant in the batting order, as LSG posted a colossal 238/3 against KKR in the previous over.
“I was a little surprised when he didn’t step out to bat in the last game. At least go out and bat. He didn’t bat at all against KKR. Now, he’ll have to score runs in the upcoming matches,” Chopra shared on his YouTube channel.
Pant has been advised to play with more caution and return to the basics. He opened the batting against Gujarat Titans.
“What does the future hold from here? Greg Chappell once told me something very insightful. This applies to both Pant and Rohit Sharma. If you’re going through a rough patch, take a look at your career stats, and you’ll notice that you’ve scored a fifty in every fifth or sixth innings.
So, every time you’re getting out, you’re actually getting closer to success, not failure,” he explained.“Four or five innings haven’t gone well so far. That means if you stick to the fundamentals, stay focused, and acknowledge you’re in a rough patch, playing with a bit more caution will eventually lead to a good knock. I really hope he starts scoring runs in this match because, in my opinion, the team is performing beyond expectations. The top three are playing excellently, but the bowling attack is a bit on the weaker side,” Chopra noted.
