Glenn Phillips set to miss the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a groin injury

Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips who sustained a groin injury while fielding in GT’s game against SRH in Hyderabad on April 6, has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025.

An IPL statement said that Phillips has “returned to New Zealand”. Gujarat Titans’ management hasn’t named a replacement player yet for Phillips.

Notably, Phillips hasn’t featured in Gujarat Titans’ playing 11 in their first five games. During the match against SRH, Phillips came on as a substitute fielder after the fifth over of the SRH innings but had to limp off within minutes.

Glenn Phillips becomes the second Gujarat Titans player to be ruled out of the ongoing season.

GT had earlier lost the services of Kagiso Rabada on April 3, when he left home “to deal with an important personal matter”. There is no clarity on when, and if, he would be returning. GT hadn’t named a replacement for Rabada either.

As of now, the Titans have only five overseas players in their roster – Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford, Rashid Khan, Gerald Coetzee, and Karim Janat.

Each franchise is permitted a total of eight foreign players.

Titans currently hold the top spot in the IPL 2025 points table with four wins and eight points from five games. Gujarat Titans lost their opening game of the season against Punjab Kings and had four back-to-back wins against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, SunRisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.
