T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to start from June 02 and India will play their first match on June 7 against Ireland.

New Delhi: Indian cricketers are currently involved in the Indian Premier League. Soon after the tournament, there will be T20 World Cup scheduled to start in June and played in USA and West Indies.

Team India will start their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05 in USA.

BCCI will reportedly announce the squad in the last week of April and the team will be announced based on ongoing IPL 2024 performance. However, BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Rohit Sharma will lead team India in the upcoming tournament.

Mohammed Shami will miss the action in the USA and West Indies as India’s veteran speedster is currently on the road to recovering from his injury in the ODI World Cup played last year in India.

Apart from Shami, there is a huge dilemma that which wicketkeeper batter will be the part of Indian squad in the marquee event.

Rishabh Pant, who missed the cricketing action for more than an year has made his comeback in the IPL and he is currently in lethal form. That makes it more difficult for the selectors for picking the squad for the World Cup.

However, Jagran news reported that Rishabh Pant will be the wicketkeeper batter and Arshdeep Singh will also represent India in USA and West Indies.
