Thanks to the brilliant bowling performance of Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 9 runs in the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium here. Bumrah said after the match, “It was a much closer match than we thought. We wanted to make an impact early on. In this format the ball swings for two overs and you want to take advantage of it. Batting first in this match, Mumbai Indians took 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs due to the excellent half-century of Suryakumar Yadav (78 runs from 53 balls, 7 fours, 3 sixes) and excellent innings of Rohit Sharma (36) and Tilak Verma (34 not out). But scored 192 runs. For Punjab, Harshal Patel took 3 wickets, captain Sam Curran took 2 wickets and Kagiso Rabada took 1 wicket.
