Virat Kohli scripted another record in T20 cricket, completing 13,000 runs. He is the first Indian cricketer to touch the milestone. The right-handed batter was 17 runs short of the record before the start of the game against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7.
The 36-year-old reached 13,000 runs without any fuss while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 18th season of the cash-rich league.
He is the fifth batter in the history of the format to accumulate these runs in T20 cricket.
Chris Gayle (14562 in 463 matches), Alex Hales (13610 in 494 games), Shoaib Malik (13557 in 555 games), and Kieron Pollard (13537 runs in 696 matches) are ahead of Kohli.
Virat took 402 games to reach the mark, with the help of 9 hundreds and 98 fifties. He has amassed his runs at an average of above 41 and a strike rate of more than 134.
Virat has been playing for RCB since the inception of the league in 2008 and is the leading run-scorer with more than 8000 runs in the tournament. Despite his magnificent performances, Bengaluru have failed to win the trophy despite making it to the final on three occasions.
