On April 6, in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ashish Nehra surprised everyone with his masterstroke to send Washington Sundar at number 4.

Sundar was shocked by batting at number 4

Washington is a beautiful spin all -rounder. For the first time this season, he has become part of Gujarat Titans. In IPL 2025, he played his first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 6 April. With this match, he also made his debut for Gujarat Titans. He was selected in view of the number of left -handed batsmen involved in Sunrisers in the team. But, when Ashish Nehra saw that Siraj and Sai Kishore together are doing the job of settling the Hyderabad batsmen, they did not bowl with Sundar. But, after two wickets in batting, Nehra promoted Sundar in the batting order and sent him to play at number 4.
