Mumbai Indians have lost three matches and won just one contest in the Indian Premier League. The franchise has felt the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, who was out of action due to a back injury. He was injured during the tour of Australia, but the speedster has recovered and joined MI on April 6. He is available for selection for the upcoming contest against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7.

Mumbai head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed the news. He has been playing for the five-time champions since 2013 and has taken over 160 wickets.

He will walk into the playing XI at the Wankhede Stadium, and his presence will put Bengaluru batters under pressure. Bumrah bowled 12 yorkers in the practice session ahead of the important game.

“He bowled two overs in the nets, and all the 12 balls were yorkers,” Jatin Sapru said on Star Sports.

Sanjay Manrjekar lauded one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time.

“Bumrah is not only a great but also a genius. He took time to return to avoid another injury. He is a platinum gold,” Sanjay Manjrekar said.

Sidhu called Jasprit a Kohinoor. “He is above platinum gold. Call him Kohinoor,” he said.

Bumrah missed the ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
