Sunrisers Hyderabad are up against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025 roster today (Sunday, April 6). But IPL, in the weekend, generally means double headers.

One match takes place in the afternoon, followed by an evening clash. Hence just one encounter on the day has sparked curiosity among fans, who are somehow baffled to see a sudden tweak in the fixture list for the day.

What Happened to IPL 2025 Schedule Today?

The IPL 2025 had initially lined up two matches for the day. However, a last-minute schedule tweak means that fans will now witness only one game on the day. The rescheduling of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clash is the primary reason behind this change.

Why Was KKR vs LSG Rescheduled?

The KKR vs LSG fixture, which was originally set to be played on April 6 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, was moved due to a request from local authorities. With Ram Navami celebrations falling close to the match date, the Kolkata Police conveyed their inability to ensure sufficient security coverage for the event.

Ram Navami, an important Hindu festival, often sees large-scale processions and gatherings in various parts of the city. The strain on police resources during this time made it difficult to allocate adequate personnel for matchday security. As a result, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), in consultation with the BCCI, decided to push the match to April 8, 2025.

The revised fixture will now be held as an afternoon game starting at 3:30 PM IST at the same venue.

Impact on the IPL Schedule

This decision turned April 6 into a single-header Sunday, with only the evening match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans being played at 7:30 PM IST. In contrast, April 8 will now be a double-header, with KKR vs LSG in the afternoon followed by the Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings in the evening.

While fans in Kolkata were left disappointed by the postponement, the BCCI's proactive approach ensured minimal disruption to the overall schedule.
