Both Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik are a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

New Delhi: Virat Kohli is known to be a prankster both on and off the field. While his on-field antics are often caught on camera, but little do his fans get to know about his pranks outside the cricket field. In one such incident, that recently came out on social media, Kohli took his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate Dinesh Karthik completely off-guard with a ‘your wife’ remark.

In a video that was shared by a big sports athleisure brand, Karthik asked Kohli about the former’s favourite sportsperson other than a cricketer. “What’s my favourite sportsperson other than a cricketer?” Karthik asked. In reply, Kohli said, “your wife” to which the wicketkeeper-batter said “it’s a great answer for sure.”

Immediately, Kohli and Karthik along with Faf du Plessis, Mohammed Siraj and Rajat Patidar burst into laughter. Karthik admitted he had a different answer in his head.“You caught me off-guard completely, I swear,” said the 37-year-old. Karthik asked his teammates if they can think of any other answer, to which names like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Jordan came flying.

Karthik later confirmed its Swiss tennis legend Federer who is his favourite. For the unknown, Karthik’s wife, Dipika Pallikal, is India’s top female squash player.

Who is Dipika Pallikal?

First Indian to break into the top 10 in the PSA Women’s rankings, Pallikal came to prominence in 2011, when she won three WISPA tour titles. Thereafter, the 32-year-old grew gradually to one of the prominent faces in Indian squash. An Arjuna Awardee in 2012, Pallikal has an Asian Games gold and Commonwealth Games gold medal to her name. She has also won two doubles gold medals at World Doubles Championships in 2022.
