Ruturaj Gaikwad is down with an elbow injury and the right-batter is likely to sit out the Delhi Capitals match in the Indian Premier League 2025. The captain of CSK was hit during the previous contest against Rajasthan Royals and hasn’t recovered. Batting coach Michael Hussey spoke about the possibility of Gaikwad missing the game.

“Pain is still there, and we will take a call on the match day. If he misses out, we will have to find a new captain,” indicating the return of MS Dhoni as a captain. Dhoni, who is not at his best due to growing age and knee issues, is likely to leave the wicket-keeping for the upcoming contest to concentrate on leadership and manage his workload.

Jatin Sapru, Piyush Chawla, and Harbhajan Singh reacted to the new development and discussed the return of MS Dhoni as a skipper.

“Uncapped player to captain Chennai Super Kings,” Jatin Sapru said on Star Sports.

“You can’t think beyond MS Dhoni. He is the only option, and I don’t think anyone else will lead CSK against Delhi,” Harbhajan Singh said.

“MS Dhoni will run the show from behind the stumps, but who will replace Ruturaj Gaikwad as a batter? He was scoring runs for the side,” Piyush Chawla.

Piyush also felt that Delhi Capitals are the favorites to win the match. “Delhi have an edge over Chennai, considering how their bowlers have performed so far. Axar Patel has led the side well in this year’s IPL,” he added.
