In a concerning moment during the 14th match of IPL 2025 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Virat Kohli appeared to suffer a serious injury to his right hand while fielding.
The incident occurred in the 12th over of GT's innings, as Krunal Pandya bowled to Sai Sudharsan.
Sudharsan attempted a powerful sweep off a quicker delivery, sending the ball racing towards deep mid-wicket. Kohli, stationed in the deep, charged in and attempted to stop the ball. However, the delivery skidded off the turf, bounced awkwardly, and struck Kohli's fingers hard before running away to the boundary.
Immediately after the impact, Kohli dropped to his knees, visibly in pain and clutching his right hand. The RCB talisman looked distressed and reportedly called out for help. Medical staff rushed onto the field as Kohli appeared unable to continue fielding. Initial concerns suggest a possible fracture or dislocation, although an official update from RCB's medical team is still awaited.
Match situation update: Gujarat Titans are cruising in their chase of RCB's 169-run target. At 104/1 in 11.5 overs, the Titans need just 66 more runs from 49 balls. Sai Sudharsan is nearing his half-century with a fluent 47*(33), while Jos Buttler has smashed a quick 39*(24). The duo have stitched an unbeaten 72-run partnership so far.
The incident has not only raised alarm among fans but could also have serious implications for RCB's campaign, should Kohli's injury be serious.
