Rishabh Pant has been an ordinary captain and batter in the Indian Premier League. His reckless shots have led to his dismissal in three matches of the 18th season so far. Lucknow Super Giants have lost two games while crossing the finishing line in one. In IPL, the teams don’t get a lot of duration to access the conditions in their home venue, but Pant has made it an excuse for Lucknow’s failures.
Barring Nicholas Pooran, none of the willow holders have scored runs in all the contests. Mitchell Marsh, who showed consistency against Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, registered a below-par score against Punjab Kings. Pant didn’t accept the shortcomings after losing the game against PBKS by 8 wickets.
“We were 20-25 runs short against Punjab Kings, but these things are part and parcel of the game. It is our first home game, and we are still assessing the conditions. It is not easy to lose early wickets, but we will try to improve in the next game,” Rishabh Pant said.
“We were not good enough, but we have to move forward. We are still figuring out our best combination. It is early days into the tournament,” he added.
LSG had bought him for INR 27 crore in the mega auction, making him the most expensive player in the tournament’s history.
