Mumbai Indians played their best game of IPL 2025 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Returning to the Wankhede Stadium, the hosts defeated the rivals by 8 wickets to register their first win of the season.

After restricting Kolkata to 116 runs in 16.2 overs, Hardik Pandya’s side completed the chase of 117 runs in 12.5 overs.

Ryan Rickelton, who was under pressure after two failures, scored a fifty-plus score to end all the hopes of KKR. Rohit Sharma (13) scripted his third failure of the season in the 18th season.

Earlier, Mumbai Indian debutant Ashwani Kumar broke the back of the defending champions. He took 4 wickets and conceded 24 runs from three overs.

He got rid of Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh, Manish Pandey, and Andre Russell. He was assisted by Deepak Chahar, who amassed two scalps.

Trent Boult, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner, and Vignesh Puthur picked up one wicket each.

For KKR, Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the highest run-getter, with the batter scoring 26 runs off 16 balls. Ramandeep Singh managed 22 runs off 12 deliveries.
