Mumbai Indians debutant Ashwani Kumar registered his maiden wicket in the Indian Premier League by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane for 11 runs during the MI vs KKR clash in Mumbai.

During the IPL 2025 mega-auction, Mumbai Indians roped in Ashwani Kumar, a young left-arm fast bowler from Punjab for INR 30 Lakh. Ashwani Kumar becomes only the second bowler to bag a wicket on the first ball on IPL debut for Mumbai Indians.

He is the 10th overall bowler to pick a wicket on the first ball on IPL debut.

Speaking of the match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine opened the batting attack for KKR while Boult opened the bowling attack for the Mumbai Indians.

In the very first over, Boult dismissed Narine for duck and made a dramatic start. While Chahar in the next over dismissed de Kock for 1 run and stunned the KKR’s dugout.

Ashwani Kumar who made his debut for Mumbai Indians, bagged his maiden IPL wicket by dismissing Rahane in his very first delivery.
