Delhi Capitals’ key pacer Mitchell Starc registered the first five wickets haul in the Indian Premier League 2025 season. Starc secured his first fifer of the season during the DC vs SRH clash at Visakhapatnam.

During the DC vs SRH clash, Mitchell Starc dismissed Ishan Kishan(2), Nitish Kumar Reddy(0), Travis Head(22), Harshal Patel(5) and Wiaan Mulder(9) to secure his first five-wicket haul of the IPL 2025.

With the five wickets haul, Mitchell Starc became the leading wicket-taker of the IPL and also the Purple Cap holder of the season.

Speaking of the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bat first. SRH’s regular opening pair, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan opened the inning for SRH while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack for DC.

Head struck a couple of boundaries in the first over before Abhishek Sharma’s runout dismissal. Ishan Kishan who scored a century in his first game of the season failed to continue the momentum and ended up scoring just two run before being dismissed by Mitchell Starc in the first delivery of the third over.

In the same over, Nitish Reddy lost his wicket without scoring any runs. Mitchell Starc again in the fifth over, dismissed dangerous batter Travis Head for 22 runs and loaded pressure over the SRH’s batting lineup.

After losing four wickets, SRH scored 58 runs at the end of first powerplay. Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma made an impressive stand and secured fifty runs partnership in just 22 deliveries.

While the duo started to add runs, Mohit Sharma in the 11th over, dismissed Klaasen for 32 runs and broke the 77 runs stand. While Kuldeep Yadav in the 12th over, dismissed Abhinav Manohar for 4 runs and restricted the run flow in the middle order.

At the end of 12 overs, SRH scored 119 runs for six wickets loss with Aniket Verma nearing his half century.

In the 14th over, Aniket Verma secured his maiden IPL fifty while in the final delivery of the over, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Cummins for 2 runs. Aniket Verma in the next over scored 17 runs and gave a boost to the team’s total.

But in the next over from Kuldeep Yadav, Aniket Verma lost his wicket for 74 runs after an impressive catch from Fraser-McGurk at the boundary rope.

In the 19th over, Mitchell Starc dismissed Harshal Patel(5) and Mulder(9) and registered the first fifer in IPL 2025 season. SRH managed to score 163 runs after losing all 10 wickets in 18.4 overs.
