Moeen Ali who made his debut for KKR in the clash against Rajasthan Royals, bagged a couple of key wickets and restricted the runflow.

​English all-rounder Moeen Ali was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 2 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. After missing KKR’s first match of the season, Moeen Ali made his debut in the second game played against RR in Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

Moeen Ali bagged the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal(29) and Nitish Rana(8) and made a drastic blow to the RR’s batting lineup.

Moeen completed his spell with 23 runs for two wickets at an economy of 5.80.

Speaking of the match, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bowl first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson opened the batting attack for the Royals, while Spencer Johnson opened the bowling attack.

Jaiswal secured a first ball boundary after the ball top-edged and rushed to the boundary rope. While the duop started to build a partnership, Vaibhav Arora in the fourth over dismissed Samson for 13 runs and drew the first blood for the Rajasthan Royals.

In the next over from Harshit Rana, Jaiswal survived a catch as Rana dropped the catch. Jaiswal ended the first powerplay with a six and pushed Rajasthan Royals to score 54 runs for a wicket loss.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy in his first over of the game dismissed Riyan Parag for 25 runs and made an impressive start. In the very next over, Moeen Ali dismissed Jaiswal for 29 runs and loaded pressure over the RR’s batting lineup.

Again, Varun Chakaravarthy struck in the next over and dismissed Wanindu Hasaranga for just four runs.

With three wickets in three back-to-back overs, Rajatshan Royals ended up scoring just 76 runs for four wickets at the end of 10 overs.
